Our Story

Evergreen Bible Church formed as a Sunday School Union in 1931 and met in the Mill Plain School, built in 1912.  In 1947 they incorporated as Evergreen Community Church and purchased the school building and property of their current location. The new name of Evergreen Bible Church was adopted in 1965 to reflect our central value that everything we do be based on the Word of God. In the early days Evergreen was way out in east Vancouver. But with all of the growth over the last five decades we are now centrally located, only five blocks east of Southwest Washington Medical Center. EBC has grown into a vibrant, family-oriented church in the middle of Vancouver.

As EBC continued to grow, the facility increasingly hindered effective ministry.  Relocation was a strong consideration at one point, but since 2000 God developed a strong conviction within the leadership and membership that a healthy church must continue Bible-based ministry here in this community.
A master plan for new building construction was adopted in 2005 with an estimated construction cost of $2.8 million. Despite the overwhelmingly prohibitive cost Evergreen believed that God was calling us to this task and set about raising the necessary funds.  Since that time God enlarged our faith by supplying over $1.25 million for this project!  Construction began in May 2007 and our Grand Opening Celebration was September 6-7, 2008.

To God be the glory!
