I know what you’ve done. I know about the horrible thoughts and the sinful actions. I know about your pride. I know about your jealousy. I know about your selfishness. I don’t need to see your sins projected onto a screen, I already know about them. I know your story.
How? Because it’s my story too. We were cut from the same cloth. In fact, all of us were, weren’t we? We were natural born rebels ready to lie, cheat, and steal if it pleased us. And it did please us.
But this is only part of our stories isn’t it? This is the part that DID define us but NO LONGER does. It’s who we were NOT who we are. So in a way, it’s no longer our story, it’s history. Let me be a little more clear: It’s His story. Because remember, Jesus traded us HIS righteousness for OUR sinfulness. We are a new creation, we’ve been born again, we’ve been set free, hallelujah!
This is the story of Redemption, and for those of us in Christ, it’s our story! And there is no better story in all the universe, no offence to C.S. Lewis and the likes. So if you haven’t already been reading your church families’ redemption stories, I highly recommend you start. For several weeks now, we’ve been including Membership Spotlights in this Connection email (see left column) so that you can be excited and encouraged by what God has done and is doing. And if you’re a member and would love to sit in on a Membership Interview, please let me know; I’d be happy to include you!
What a great God we serve!
