Last night we went and caroled at the Cascade Inn to about 15 residents who were delighted by our collective voices. It was a really sweet way for the youth group to “be a blessing” and to give of themselves during this holiday season. After spending some time singing, we passed out some Christmas cards that we had made, and spent some time talking with the residents, hearing their stories, and wishing them a Merry Christmas.
I was so impressed with our students. They handled themselves well, engaged with the residents, and joyfully sang their hearts out. After debriefing our experience when we came back to the church, we spent the remainder of the evening watching “Home Alone,” and enjoying some Christmas cookies.
It was a good night at youth group, and a good opportunity to apply what we have been learning in the Word of God.
Remember, there is no youth group for the next two weeks! On January 8th, as is Youth Group tradition, we’ll be having our annual “After Christmas Christmas Party.” Students will need to bring a wrapped white elephant gift under $5 in value. You can look at the flyer here for the rundown on all that we’ll be doing.
Have a wonderful Christmas break, everyone!
