Last week we continued our series on Prayer – looking at the scriptures in order to be instructed how we should pray, what we should pray for, and why we should pray. In looking at the Lord’s prayer, we came away with the ACTS model of prayer. ACTS stands for Adoration, Confession, Thanksgiving, Supplication. We put our “ACTS” prayers into practice during small group. It’s been great to give the students a good framework for praying, and then to set them loose. I’ve been really encouraged at the response of the students to pray, and pray bodly.

Tomorrow night: We are going to be devoting the whole night (pretty much) to prayer (& fasting). I prepped the students for this last week, but I’m sure some have forgotten. We talked a little bit about the purpose of fasting – how it’s to help us to learn a physical longing (for food or something else) to help us learn a spiritual longing for Jesus. Of course, no one is required to fast! But I challenged the students to fast tomorrow before we gather to pray as a way of trying to focus their hearts on what we’re going to be doing in the evening.

Okay. All for now. Thanks so much, everyone! Looking forward to seeing all of your students tomorrow evening!

With you and for you in Christ,

Ryan Aufenkamp
