I Turned 50 This Week
No, not Pastor Toby (although his turn is coming next January), but me, Sharon, the one who sends this email update out every week … which is why you didn’t get it on Tuesday, as you are used to, because I was out of the office on vacation, well, turning 50 with my family on a beautiful camping trip to Mt. Rainier! (See picture above taken at Reflection Lake on Tuesday, my birthday!)
When I was a kid, and even a young adult, 50 seemed to be the magic age when I’d have it all together and have it all figured out, when I’d be completely mature in my faith, when I’d be the woman people looked to for wisdom and advice. But boy, I sure don’t, and boy, I’m sure not (just ask my family, friends and co-workers)! Instead, I’m still learning, I’m still growing, still figuring out how to do life, how to deal with sadness and disappointment and how to love people well. But what I can say, is I’m so thankful for Jesus in my life, grateful for His saving grace and that I get to spend the rest of my life loving Him, continuing to trust Him and continuing to realize His great love for me. As in the picture above, I hope and pray that my life will be a reflection of Him.
I leave you with my life verse, the one I continue to try to live by year by year, day by day, and yes, even moment by moment at times:
And lean not on your own understanding;
In all your ways acknowledge Him,
And He shall direct your paths.
~ Proverbs 3:5-6 (NKJV)
