January 27, 2022

Last night we continued our journey of looking at the Attributes of God together. Thus far, we’ve looked at God’s: Infinitude, Goodness, Justice, Mercy, Grace, and the Omni’s of God. Last night, we dove into Psalm 145:18 and talked about the Immanence of God.

We saw that God is not a God who created us then left us to do our best on earth. No, He is active in our lives and close to us each and every day.

In order to understand this better, we broke up into groups of 5 during the teaching and everyone prayed as we talked to our Abba, Father as Romans 8:15 states. After we gathered again as a whole group, it was great to remind the students that God was active during that prayer time.

We ended the evening in small groups discussing other ways the LORD is active in our lives.

APOLOGETIC SPOTLIGHT

Marissa Williams, one of our students, taught the 5-minute Apologetic Spotlight last night. She taught us that, as Christians, we don’t believe in Purgatory, working for our salvation, and requiring baptism for salvation. However, that is often taught by the Catholic Church. It is really exciting to see our students involved in these roles at youth group!

You can find all the apologetic spotlights here.

YOUTH CON 2022 INFO

In the PNW – there are very few youth conferences that are really Scripture fed and Spirit led. That’s why Noah Soistmann, youth pastor of Northwest Gospel Church, came up with the idea to get like minded youth groups together in the Vancouver/Portland area to have a weekend of encouraging teaching, worship, and fellowship. The vision is to get students in one place from all over the city to sit under the teaching of the Scriptures for a weekend, and to connect with one another over the one hope that we share in the Gospel.

This is not an overnight event, but rather a multi day conference for students to attend with main plenary sessions, practical breakout sessions, times of musical worship, food, fun, and fellowship. In addition to all of the fun things like laser tag, mini golf, big inflatables and an escape room, the students will have opportunities to connect with their local church small groups to reflect on content together.

Dates: Feb. 18th – Sunday Feb. 20th.

Cost: $100 (Scholarships are available – we don’t want finances to be an obstacle for any of the students! Please contact myself or Matt for more details)
