Well… we tried! As many of you know, last night we had planned on doing Ultimate Frisbee at the park for the evening. I held on to hope that we would be able to play and that the imminent storm warning was case of mistaken weather pattern… boy was I wrong. We played for about 30 minutes, and then the storm really hit and we ran for cover FAST!

But… the reality is that everyone was safe, AND we got to witness an AWESOME display of God’s power together as a youth group. I had the students sit under a covered structure at Marrion Elementary and just simply listen to the storm. Rain coming down sideways, lighting in the distance, and then the distinct crack of the thunder afterwards. I read Psalm 148 to the students as we listened to God display His might… “Praise the Lord from the earth… fire and hail, snow and mist, stormy wind fulfilling His word.” I think it’s something that the students will remember for a long time, to be honest. I’m grateful to have had the opportunity as a group to listen to and fear God.

After loading up the cars in torrential rain, we came safely back to the church where we played board games and enjoyed each others presence. Needless to say, it was a good and memorable night.
