Messages That Go Beyond Hearing
We just had lunch and are now half way through the three-day IFCA regional pastors conference being hosted here at EBC. About 70 pastors and missionary couples are taking part, along with a wonderful team of EBC people helping serve food, watch their kids and bless these servants of the Lord.
I am thrilled that our own Bruce and Cindy McMartin are the primary speakers at this conference. After more than four decades of missionary service, 31 in Haiti and 10 in Senegal, they have now retired from their formal role and are seeking the Lord’s leading for what is next. The two of them have a treasure trove of insights on God and his worldwide mission, and the first two sessions have been extremely compelling.
The morning message was on praying globally, and my favorite thing about it was that they did not simply talk to us about prayer, they led us to spend time praying. What a concept! After all, pretty much everyone in the room already knows many of the Bible’s instructions on the topic. In fact, many teach on it regularly. But if teaching does not become doing, there will be no fruit.
That’s why I found myself delighting in being briefly prepped and then led in a time of active prayer for many pressing needs around the world. I wish you could all have been here! There actually are several ways to join in if you like.
