October 18, 2018
In brief review of last night, we spent some time in worship together, and then got back into the parables. This time, we tackled two parables in Matthew 21 – the Parable of the Two Sons, and the Parable of the Wicked Tenants. We walked through the chapter, identifying the context of the parables, and then doing our best to interpret them together. We landed on the theme of faith, particularly the Pharisee’s lack of faith, and what genuine faith looks like.
We saw in both parables that faith works in relationship with God. Our application was that our faith isn’t something that stays stagnant, or at least, it shouldn’t be. Yes, we should always look back and cling to our faith in the fact that Jesus cleanses us from sin. But as we see God more in His scriptures, our faith in Him should grow, as does the work that we do in His name!
We had a good night! Next week is review and game night! We’ll spend some time talking with the students about our plan for trunk or treat as well. Looking forward to seeing everyone again!
