Last week the title was Jonah vs. Jesus, whereas this week it is Knowledge vs. Heart. So often we know a lot about Christianity and the Bible, but our hearts are not in the right place. We see that in Jonah’s life. Although he KNEW a lot about God, his heart was not after God. This week we discussed one way to get our hearts right with the LORD, which is through prayer.
Last night we took a deep dive into Jonah chapter 2. We looked at the prayer he prayed and applied prayer to our lives. How often should we pray? What kind of prayers should we be praying?
We jumped over to 1 Thessalonians 5:17 where Paul tells us to always be praying, not just when times get tough like Jonah did.
We also looked at the kind of prayers we should be praying. Solomon reminds us that we should be careful to make vows to God unless we fully intend to fulfill them.
Overall it was a fantastic evening. The students were really engaged during both the teachings and small groups.
