YOUTH GROUP RECAP

Last night at youth group we had our first missions spotlight and continued our teaching series going through the story of the Gospel by looking at the Fall. Genesis 3 documents when sin first entered the world and humanity was separated from the presence of God. Just like a doctor needs to properly diagnose a sickness or injury before treating it, as Christians, we need to have a right understanding of our sin to see our need for Christ! We attempted to answer a couple of questions: (1) What is sin? and (2) What are the consequences of our sin? We learned that sin is a rebellion against God and a rejection of His authority, and the result of our sin is death and complete separation from Him.

Talking about sin is definitely a heavier topic, and I think many of our students could feel the weight of some of it last night. My desire is that being honest with our sin will give us a greater appreciation for Christ! I left our students with 2 Corinthians 5:21 which states, “For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.” Jesus cares about us so much that he entered into the most shameful and painful parts of our world so that we can be united with Him!

Even if you just filled out the form for your student this past month, you will need to complete it again as it expires at the end of each summer. Please let me know if you have any questions!
