Hi Youth Group Parents, Families, and Staff,
Tomorrow we have two things going on in youth ministry at EBC:
1.) Youth Group Study Session is happening from 3pm-6pm here at the church! This is a time for the students to come, bring their homework, get tutoring help if they need it, and be in community with other physical people! We will be providing dinner for the students that come, free of cost to you!
2.) Youth Group from 6:30pm – 8:30pm!
Last week we looked at 1 Peter 5:6-9, and our main take-away was that humility is an essential attribute that helps us to fight against our anxieties and fears. We talked about how there are sources swirling around us that desire nothing more than for us to focus on ourselves. This is a strategy of the enemy to get our eyes off of the all sufficient God, and onto us – insufficient sinners in and of ourselves. Humility is NOT the same as having a low view of one’s self, but rather a humble attitude is quick to identify our strengths and weaknesses. This is crucial. If we’re to fight anxiety well, we must know what we ought to bring before the Lord in prayer.
This week we’ll be spending the majority of the night in small groups. Each small group leader has an (on campus) activity planned for the students to do together. We plan to try and address the issue of fear and anxiety, and have an open and honest conversation with the students about how they are doing in their fight against it.
Myself and the youth staff are looking forward to connecting with your students tomorrow for the study sesh, and for youth group!
As always, if you have any needs, or questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out! I’m here to be a resource to you as you navigate the waters of teenage parenting and shepherding your kids!
With you and for you in Christ,
Ryan Aufenkamp
