Last Wednesday we had our parent night at youth group that was aimed at getting to know Matt Arnett, the proposed candidate for a year long youth ministry internship that will, Lord willingly, turn into a pastoral position overseeing the youth group. We spent the evening worshipping together, and getting to know Matt Arnett through his testimony and Q&A. I was so encouraged, not only by Matt’s responses, but also by the questions that our students asked.
For those that attended, THANK YOU! This is a big decision, and we are truly seeking to discern the will of the Lord in all of this. 🙂For those that were unable to attend, I would encourage you to watch the replay of the evening here. 🙂
Our church membership will be voting on this transition on the evening of October 10th. Until then, I would encourage you to pray, and to use the available resources to get to know Matt Arnett. If you have any questions, or comments please don’t hesitate to reach out to myself or Toby. 🙂
NEXT WEEK I’m excited to say that youth group will be getting back to “normal.” We’re going to start the book of Jonah, which we’ll study for the next six weeks. I think it’ll be really helpful to have a familiar biblical book for the students to dig into. I’ll be trying hard to help them see it from fresh eyes, as we’re going to dig deep into looking at Jonah’s heart in contrast to God’s heart. The book of Jonah is all about self reflection, as it causes us to wrestle with our sinful selfishness, and our bent towards tuning out the voice of the Lord.
Really looking forward to next week with the students.
