Shiny New Office
On Sunday, November 30 the EBC Staff all moved our stuff out of our offices, to make way for new carpet, paint and trim. When it was time to move back in, I got to move into my brand-new office, located in half the space that was previously used as a kitchen. Jacob and I had previously shared an office, which was a great shared experience, but now we each get our very own space!
So we moved our things into our new spaces and got busy, over the course of several evenings, setting things up the way we want them. I was able to procure some used furniture for my space at a good price, so within a week of moving in, I had a well-furnished space. And a couple days later, I had an evening available to add splashes of color back up on the walls with my eclectic artwork (I think I heard Toby refer to my space as a “Museum of Curious Things”😊.) Speaking of the furnished space, a few days ago I thought I’d lay on the couch for the last 10 minutes of my day before heading home. I was going to pray. Well, I don’t know if it’s a good prayer couch, but it’s certainly a good nap couch. I was suddenly 20 minutes late for dinner! Oops!
I am also building myself a new desk, using a large live-edge slab of Ash. I’m pretty excited for the desk, but until that’s ready, I’m using a 6-foot folding table for a desk, and it seems to do the trick just fine. I have a few cabinets I’m planning to build, to hold all of my many items, so for now, some of my stuff still sits in a couple boxes. The office is a work in progress, but it’s already a space I like a lot.
I don’t have an analogy or some clever thing to say. I just wanted to say thanks! Thanks, EBC, for being so generous. Thank you for providing me and the rest of the staff with really great spaces for working. I am grateful to be pastoring in a church where we are treated so kindly. I look forward to hosting so many of you in this new space for meetings and all sorts of conversations.
