Single Mission Focus

When was the last time you spent a notable amount of time thinking and praying for people groups around the world to know the One True God? I’m not trying to come off as uber spiritual here. The immediate demands of life consistently seem to require all my attention and I have as hard a time as anyone thinking beyond my own turf. But the truth is, I could give missions more attention. I just need a bit of prompting.

One such opportunity is coming this Friday night at 7pm. There will be A Night of Prayer and Worship for the Nations at East Park Church. As the title indicates, the purpose will be to lift our gaze beyond our immediate community and to share God’s heart for the world.

It is worth noting this event is sponsored by OneSingleThread, a ministry born at Evergreen to helps singles become more integrated in the life of the local church. However, the event this Friday is for everyone, married or single, who wants to sing the glory of God and pray for more nations to come to know Him.

I find it wonderfully appropriate that our singles ministry is sponsoring this missions event as this particular time. It is a compelling expression of the Apostle Paul’s vision for unmarried Christians that we looked at last weekend. I am saying this for your own good, not to restrict you, but that you may live in a right way in undivided devotion to the Lord. (1 Corinthians 7:35)

There are a lot of things to do on a Friday night, but it would be hard to find something more worthwhile than this. If you plan to come, please RSVP to onesinglethreads@gmail.com.
