Staying With the Supplies
Dear EBC family,
There is a story in the Old Testament in which half of David’s men pursued the enemies who had plundered their homes, and the other half stayed back and guarded the supplies. The story is not particularly well known, but for some reason has always stuck in my memory. We have a bit of this going on with our pastoral staff right now.
Three weeks ago, Ryan Donovan went to serve for the summer at Rock Nest Ranch in Canada. This Friday morning, Jacob Abrahamson and the bulk of the Rock Nest team will head north to join Ryan for a week of camp ministry. The very next day, Ryan Aufenkamp will leave to serve for a week at a high school camp in central Oregon.
As for myself, I will be right here at Evergreen, staying with the supplies. And it won’t be boring! Starting this coming Monday, the flooring contractor will begin installing new carpet in the upstairs rooms of our current building. That means we need to clear the floors for their work.
Moving party this Sunday night at 6 – 8pm! I am hoping to recruit a dozen or more able-bodied helpers to clear the way for the flooring contractors. Our task will be to move the furnishings and supplies as well as removing the old wood base trim. If we have extra hands, we may also do some wall prep so it is ready for the painting contractors.
What to bring? The main need is an able body and willing hands. But the following may also be helpful: Furniture skate, hand truck, flat bar and hammer (for base trim removal), staple remover (straight, not jaws type), narrow putty knife.
Moving party II Wednesday night at 6pm! We will need another gang to move everything back into the newly carpeted spaces. If we have more than enough help, we’ll tackle any additional wall prep.
