What Light Through Yonder Pallet Breaks?
As you have almost certainly seen in the EBC Parking Lot, we have stacks of rocks sitting on pallets in a couple of our flower beds. They await a repurpose, after being removed from a previous retaining wall as a part of the Phase II project. And, in fact, many of these rocks do have a future purpose as a part of a different retaining wall. But in the meantime, they are actively holding back so much life that would usually spring up in our flower beds.
But one of my children noticed just today that, coming up from underneath one of the pallets, there are tulips stretching out, reaching for the light. While many of the tulips bulbs in that bed get zero sunlight, there are a few, located at the edge of the pallet, that must have caught just enough sunlight to grow a bit. And then to grow a bit more and a bit more, until they had sprung free from under the pallet to bloom in the light.
I am confident that many helpful analogies could be written. In fact, I thought of four different ideas that I could write about. But you all hear us pastors talk or write all the time. It occurred to me that it would be really delightful to hear your thoughts. When you see these red tulips coming up from under the pallet of rocks in the flower bed, does it remind you of a particular aspect of the Christian life? Or does it point you to something in the Scriptures? I don’t know who might take on this challenge, but I want to invite you to write your own Evergreen Connection this week. You could just think of an idea in your own head, and that would have value for yourself and anyone who you shared it with. And that would be terrific. If, though, you are willing to write it down on a page, it would be a great blessing if you shared it with others, too. It could be as short as a couple sentences, or it could be several paragraphs. But I would love to hear your thoughts.
