Yard Work for Youth Missions
It’s that time of the year again! I’m currently looking out of my office window wishing I could spend the day outside on this beautiful spring day! The sun is out! Flowers are beginning to bloom, and the grass and weeds are growing too.
As many of you know, we are planning another youth mission trip this summer at Rock Nest Ranch. This July, our team will be helping lead a camp of 9–12-year-old kids coming from First Nation communities in northern British Columbia. Trip costs have increased a little bit for our students this year, so we are trying to provide some practical ways to help our students earn money to meet the trip costs. Instead of just asking for donations, we would love to provide some opportunities for our teens to serve our church body in their pursuit of raising money and awareness to be praying for the mission trip this summer.
If you have yard work, spring cleaning, pet sitting, or other miscellaneous work that needs to be done, I’d love to offer some opportunities for our teens to serve our church body and receive donations toward their trip funds. More importantly, we would love prayer that our team would be doing more than just preparing funds but that we would have prepared hearts. 1 Corinthians 13:3 reminds us, “If I give away all I have…but have not love, I gain nothing.” Abiding in the love of Christ is more than just doing good works, but it takes a transformed heart, humbled before Him. It begins with an inward change that produces an outward transformation. Our vision for our youth is that they would experience the love of Christ as we come alongside them in service and other ordinary ministries here at EBC, and that in return they will share this love with those around them.
